3 Idiots?

3 Idiots

This is my personal opinion and what I have reflected from the movie 3 Idiots (which is the irony because each one of them are genius in their own specific fields and passion)
3 idiots is a movie that is like a cherry, we have a lot of lessons to pick up. For me it enables us to understand more the life as a student, it may never come easy but every struggles comes a prize. Having a difficult job to do isn’t enough to be able to become successful one must know how to endure and persevere throughout the entire lifetime as a student to rip the crop of success.

For me the major characters are:  Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad/Chhote/Phunsukh Wangdu, Farhan QureshiRaju Rastogi each with totally different attitudes and perspective but were able to understand each other and supporting each other to cater the needs of the others which allows them to finish their studies and pursue their passion in life.

This is how I describe each of the main characters/protagonists and what I have learned from the movie 3 idiots:

Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad is a person whose very optimistic that he sees every critical situation as a probability or chance of creating a good opportunity therefore making it a positive outcome. He is a very intelligent person and machines are his passion, he took engineering because machines are his passion, he may seem to be very relaxed in his studies but he is doing what his heart is saying making his tasks easy for him to do because it is what he wanted to do in life, it is what his heart says he is. His extreme intelligence is not the assurance that he topped the class, it is because of his unconditional love towards his work, showing dedication in everything he does.

He is not just intelligent but he is also clever for he knows how to create good scenarios out of a very bad situation. Its like he’s able to produce good outcomes out of very desperate and perilous events, it is because he is also a person with integrity, and he wants what is for the better of his friends, not just for himself, he is a person whose kind enough that all he wanted is to make people around him happy.

His passions about machines are the main reasons why he joined the school in engineering, and no wonder why he topped, everyone out there are intelligent, it’s just that his guts are extraordinary and his focus are not for himself but for his friends and he has a simple belief that “one must follow what his heart says.” According to Paulo Coelho in his Book the Alchemist “When you want something all in the universe conspires you to have it.” For rancho it not his genuis that allows him to outshine the others but because what he has been doing is what his heart is really saying he should be doing.

When he is young, he loved math, it may be algebra, advanced algebra, trigonometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, differential equations, solid mensuration and etc.. from simple math to the most complicated ones are his passion, I can say that it is where his heart really is and he is serious about it.

It’s not about somebody to discover your talents but how you discover yourself and how you utilize it to become the best as you could possibly become. We are the bests in our own specific fields, we may not know it or discover it now but we follow our heart, if we already knew what is our passion we should nurture it and work at it, it is not that hard to follow what your heart is saying because it is our heart that strengthens us and enables us to endure.

Farhan Qureshi is a person whose being forced to do things that is not his passion, he is struggling because what he is forced to do is not inline with his passion, his not is not into it. He is capable of doing better, or even the best as he could if he is in his proper growing site, but for fahran, he really is struggling because his free will isn’t present in life, he is being dictated by his parents and his heart really isn’t to engineering. He is a person who loves to please his parents by following their reprimands and sermons.

Raju Rastogi is a person whose very fearful and in filipino we refer this guy as “Bahala na si Bat Man” which is relying too much on something that is holding him back and in the end was able to overcome his nightmares… his fears.

This is how I see myself in their shoes (reflection):

Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad – very passionate towards his work because it is where his heart is, in myself, I know that I’ll be able to become the best as I can possibly be, but that’s into what my heart is saying me to do. Like rancho, I too have my own passions, like playing drums and procrastinating in front of the computer, these are the things that I really love to do.

For an instance playing drums, for now I may not be the best drummer in the entire world but then, I love playing drums, it gives me relief to when the frustrations are like endless abyss, I just play drums and those emptiness I felt inside will be slowly filled with joy, joy that only I can understand.

Same with our studies, if we’ll put our hearts out in our studies, a 4 year course (or should I say 5 kay extended man ta, HAHAHA *dili mi engineering ha, BSIT mi*) will feel like a 4 day rehearsal  Not because it is easy but when we enjoy something, we don’t really mind the time, it will just pass by like a second, this is what Einstein meant by his theory of relativity. Like jacob in the bible, 7 years for him came so easily because he sees his goals, even his being tricked by his uncle Laban  he still worked for another 7 years and still he finished it and it came off quickly.

Same with our studies, if we see our goals prior than the problems, we will be motivated and we’ll strive harder to achieve what we wanted, it’s not that discouragements are not strong enough but our will to endure is much more stronger and better.

Nobody can do all things alone, he needs friends. So do I, I thanked God for my friends for being there during the struggling times, and Jesus as my best friend.

A simple belief from Rancho. “Follow what your heart says.”

Farhan Qureshi – Follow your heart not what other people thinks about, friends , your relative nor your parents. Pure happiness can be found where your heart is, and when you are doing something that is against your will and not your passion, you will simply struggle and find it hard to do things.

I can’t understand why each of us are like being pushed into something which we really don’t like, for me, we can do things that ain’t our passion but I cannot guarantee the best output I can produce because, there are many things that seemed to hinder me in doing that thing because it is not what my heart says to do.

Farhan is forced to study engineering but his passion is photography, I don’t want to be like farhan that after I finish my studies is that I will do something that is not inline to what I have been studying the past 4 (or 5 years) in my life. I will consider it as time lost, and I don’t want that, but the finally verdict is in God’s Hand; because TIME IS THE CURRENCY OF LIFE, where you spend your time will define what kind of person you are, and the past years I have been is a student, I don’t want that when I finally graduate I will then start finding my passion, maybe this is it, I’ll be a programmer and a technopreneur, if I am still not the best there it is, it is my duty to nurture and enhance it, to work it out as it is meant to be done.

Raju Rastogi – “Bahala na si batman”. We all have this guy inside us, when things are uncertain and obscure, we say “Bahala nani oyy”, but then I realized, what is “BAHALA NANI OYY” if haven’t done something yet; thus, we really solely on doing something or even nothing at all.

In my conclusion I think we need somebody to help us become motivated, and do things instead of relying unto something that ain’t even certain. We must take step in order to achieve something, we must go and step out in our comfort zone, not just go out to your comfort zone and after it is that you will come back to your safe zone, what I’m saying is, go explore the wild and who knows you’ll find yourself out there, if not then you’ll find yourself even stronger for surviving the wild.

Nothing comes easy, and everything comes at a prize, so all we need to do it to take risks. Risking may be cause something Bad or Good but, not risking somethings ain’t better at all.
We must believe in ourselves.

If I were to choose among the 3 main characters I will choose Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad
I will choose rancho not because he topped and outstand all of the other students, but simply because of his attitude, attitude towards his work, friends, professors and classmates. He is a hardworking individual whose very passionate in what he do, I may not be like rancho Intelligent and Clever but I’ll make him as an inspiration for me to become better, not just as a student but a person as a whole.

I mean the character he has been is almost perfect, though I know I’m not, yet it is still better for us to set our bars high, so that we’ll strive hard than we usually do.

Being humanitarian isn’t easy afterall but I know it is worth the risk. Although we know rancho is Idiot when it comes to love, cause it takes him several years to confess his love to the girl he love yet he ran away. In the end they still end up together, we may have the same fear, but I’m hoping one day, we’ll have the same ending.
Rancho Shamaldas Chhanchad signifies a lot of things, he himself speaks of perseverance, passion, love, endurance, and many more to name all. All I can say love of knowledge isn’t the key to attain the things that we’ve always wanted, SILENCER is a testimony of that, he did everything out of his own knowledge but comes out short, rancho says what your heart is saying is what we should follow, not because it is rational, but because it’s irrational.

In everything we do, we must put our heart into it, not like literally bleed out yourself and remove your heart, but I’m referring our mindset, we must focus our minds when we do something, we should be able to express ourselves fully that we’ll be able to show what we can. Do the best as we could possibly be, because that’s what we must do in order to come out with the best output or else the output close to what we truly desired.
In relation to technopreneurship, we must strive hard to attain the best things in life, there maybe many problems that will probably occur but always bear in mind, if we really love something, we will find ways to bring our goal within the grasps of our hands, it may still be far away from the distance of our hands as of this moment, but if we make small but consistent steps at a time, it’s still possible that one day, maybe one day… we’ll be able to achieve the things that we want, implement our own unique ideas, establish our own company, provide happiness and service to the people just like rancho. There maybe lots of virus on the way; it could be physical or logical virus, as long as it is virus, always remember, we are ANTI-VIRUS!

Keep it in mind, if everything else seems so vague and obscure remember the passage that was said by Paulo Coelho from his book The Alchemist “When you want something, everything in the World conspires you to have it.”

All is Well…
